Can Diesel Performance Modules Really Save You Money on Fuel?

As diesel fuel continues to be more expensive, you may be wondering if a performance module could help you save money on fuel. The short answer is: yes, it can!

How does it work?

Diesel performance modules are designed to bring in horsepower earlier in your load cycle. This allows your engine to work less during daily driving and makes more of the horsepower available to you right off the throttle. In turn, this gives the ability for the engine to take off more easily and reach normal driving speeds without using much fuel.

A diesel engine is already manufactured to make a ton of horsepower, but most of that power is only available at the higher RPMs of the engine. But, no one drives at those RPMs. Most are controlling your common rail pressure, and this creates more efficient combustion (which also saves fuel). Some modules also control boost and or manifold absolute pressure (or MAP). By adding this extra air into your combustion, you can make the engine run even more efficient, also saving fuel.

Are Diesel Performance Modules Safe to Use in my Truck?

I think mother nature is a little confused here in Indiana. I see the pumpkins, but I don’t feel the fall weather. But, none the less, October is here!
